Emergency Calls
Affordable Family Dentistry
has an established method for handling emergency calls,
which we will outline here. Our hope is that it will
help you understand how these calls are handled, as
we strive to address your concerns in as timely a
manner as possible.
If you are a patient
of ours, please be aware that during business hours
(9 am to 5 pm, weekdays), Dr. Love is often seeing
patients, but our receptionist will take your message
and notify him of your concern; true emergencies are
addressed immediately.
After business hours,
our message system will take your request. This system
is checked regularly each evening and morning, and
requests are handled in the order received, with priority
given to emergencies. You can also reach Dr. Love
by cell phone at 817-528-6457 after hours.
Should you require refilling
of a pain medication prescription, Dr. Love will first
check your chart to review the procedure done, and
whether a refill was given. If so, and you are still
experiencing pain, you will be asked to come back
into our office for an evaluation, since pain can
be a sign of infection.
Please be aware
that our practice cannot fill prescriptions for medications,
including antibiotics or pain medications, if we have
not previously seen you as a patient of our practice.
State law mandates that you must be evaluated prior
to receiving a prescription of any type. If you are
experiencing oral pain, and are not a current patient
of ours or another dentist, you can receive emergency
care by seeing your current physician, or visiting
an emergency room. |
