Veneers
What are Veneers?
Veneers are small pieces of porcelain that
are bonded to the teeth. They are used to improve the appearance
of teeth that are chipped, stained, or decayed, as well
as closing unsightly gaps between teeth. They can literally
give you a whole new smile.
For instance, if your teeth have discolored
with age, a veneer can help whiten them. At times, veneers
are used instead of crowns if the damage or decay is not
too extensive.
How are Veneers Applied?
First, the tooth is prepared to accept the
veneer, and the tooth surface is ground down. You will most
likely be numbed with a local anesthetic while this is done.
The veneer is then applied to the prepared areas. While
some veneers can be done during a single appointment, if
the work or color change is extensive, it may require two
appointments to complete.
